London City Mission support

AnnualMBC report:

It does not seem ten months since I last wrote an LCM article for the Messenger, but here I am again telling you about the 2012 LCM Annual Meetings at Margate Baptist Church.

At our Annual Meetings last year we were privileged to have Rob Hooks, the LCM Chaplain to Brixton Prison with us. He brought his wife Sandy and she led the “All Age Time” in the morning and sang to us at both services. Rob told us of the dangers that he faces every day and described his ministry, making use of the words of Paul in 2 Corinthians 2 v 12 -17, telling us that it isn’t easy, and challenging us in our own ministry here at Cecil Square.

Also in the morning Rob made a presentation to Edna Cadman of a model of Tower Bridge to say thank you from all at LCM for her service as our LCM Secretary over the past 15 / 16 years, and for promoting the LCM and keeping the work alive in our minds. Sadly since then we have not seen as much of Edna as we used to, due to her failing health, but we still give thanks to God for her service and pray that God will be very close to her in these days.

The LCM Sunday this year is earlier, on 26th February to be exact, when our Minister, Rev Stephen Biddall, will still be away following the first half of his Sabbatical.

Martin Lawrence was due to be with us but unfortunately he has been unwell and cannot come. At short notice Stephen Downe, who is the LCM Chaplain to the Rail Staff and the British Transport Police Southern region, will be bringing news of what God is doing through him and the wider mission. As is our usual practice we will be holding retiring offerings at both services and the money collected, together with any other donations, will be sent to LCM to further their work.

Last year we collected £167.70 from the retiring offerings and, together with a £100 donation and three personal boxes, we were able to send £326.18 to LCM. Since then we now have a total of 8 personal boxes collecting small change for the cause so we are hopeful we will be able to send an increased donation to LCM this year. If you have a heart for the work of the London City Mission and would like a box or if you would like me to save you a magazine please let me know.

Please book the LCM Sunday date, 26th February 2012, and try to encourage others to come to hear news of, and to support financially and / or in prayer, this difficult but rewarding work for the Lord in our capital city.
